It’s a good place to cool off after the excitement of the boat trip, and you may spot turtles or rays gliding over the sand if the visibility is clear.

Unlike big resort Le Morne fronts, the public beach has a more local rhythm: families under filaos trees, kites rigging in the distance when wind picks up, fishermen launching pirogues. You’re free to come and go; no wristbands, no hotel sunbed rules. Many guests choose to hike on a different day, but if you still have energy, you can start around 14:00 when temperatures begin to drop from midday highs of 30°C.

For something cooler and greener, drive about 25 km (roughly 35–40 minutes) inland to Black River Gorges National Park. Trails here wind through native forest between 300 and 700 m above sea level, with air temperatures often 3–5°C lower than the coast. Short walks of 45–60 minutes lead to viewpoints over deep valleys and sometimes white-tailed tropicbirds circling on thermals – a different kind of wildlife from the morning’s dolphins, but just as memorable.

17:00–19:30 – Sunset, kites and dinner at Wapalapam Le Morne

Back in Le Morne, head down again to Le Morne Public Beach for sunset. From June to September, you’ll often see kitesurfers and windsurfers carving across the lagoon in 20-knot winds; in calmer months, the water turns mirror-smooth and the sky slowly reflects in it. The sun sets around 18:00–18:45 depending on the season, painting Île aux Bénitiers in gold – the same island you see every evening from Kozy’s terraces.

For dinner, walk about 100 m from Kozy Le Morne to Wapalapam Le Morne, the closest restaurant. 19:30–22:00 – Night sky and quiet villa time

End your day back on your terrace with the lights of boats flickering far out at sea. With no resort entertainment schedule or hotel corridors, nights at Kozy Le Morne stay surprisingly quiet – just the wind in the trees and sometimes the sound of waves breaking on the reef 1–2 km away.
