At the gate, you pay one entrance and can visit both the Chamarel waterfall viewpoint and the famous Seven Coloured Earth dunes. The waterfall viewpoint usually involves a short walk of 100–200 m from the parking area. The coloured earth itself is an easy loop on flat ground with wooden walkways, suitable for children and older family members. Allow 60–90 minutes for photos, a snack and a calm stroll.

On a clear day, the viewpoints between Chamarel and Le Morne offer some of the island’s best elevated lagoon panoramas, with the peninsula and Le Morne Brabant rising 556 m above the sea. From Chamarel back down to Kozy Le Morne is about 20 km, but the bends mean it typically takes 35–40 minutes.

16:30 – Lagoon stop or boat trip to Crystal Rock

If the family still has energy, use the late afternoon for a short lagoon experience closer to home. A classic option is a boat trip to Crystal Rock, the iconic volcanic outcrop sitting in the middle of the lagoon opposite Île aux Bénitiers. Many local skippers operate 2–3 hour excursions from the Le Morne or La Gaulette area, often combining snorkelling stops with a swim near Crystal Rock.

The ride out usually takes 15–25 minutes by speedboat, depending on the departure point and sea conditions.
